Research Profile

Biography

With a Geology background, Mohammad has experiences in conducting research in different areas of Geoscience, Engineering and GeoEnvironmental sciences. Mohammad holds a BSc degree in Geology from Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran. He obtained an MSc in Engineering Geology from University of Tehran in 2015. In his MSc project, Mohammad carried out geospatial analysis for locating a highway in a geologically complex mountainous terrain based on Geological and GeoEnvironmental parameters. After completing his MSc, Mohammad started working as a Geological Laboratories Expert at Shahid Beheshti University where he was involved in a wide range of lab works, organising practical classes and contributing to GeoEnvironmental research projects. In 2017, he started his PhD in Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University. His PhD focused on Neutron and X-ray 3D and 4D imaging of fluid transport within natural and lab-deformed carbonate rocks.
Mohammad joined the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS) at Heriot-Watt University in 2022 as a Research Associate. He works on the Greenhouse Gas Removal by Enhanced Weathering research to explore national and international inventories of appropriate rocks, their potential for extraction and processing, and what opportunities could be exploited in the short or long-term.
