Dr. Jeannie Ziang Yie Tan

Jeannie graduated from the University of Melbourne and joined Heriot-Watt University as a research associate on September 2017. She is working on the project developing the first benchmarking and scalable photoreactors for CO2 photoreduction under UV and visible light. She is working closely with other group members, who have developed novel mathematic models for CO2 photoreduction process. Having the background in material synthesis and characterisation, she will assist the group to validate the models proposed previously. Material characterisation techniques (i.e., in situ X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption, microscopy scanning and etc.) will be used. The optimised parameters will then be used to develop the first benchmarking photoreactors for CO2 photoreduction. Developing high performing photocatalyst for CO2 photocatalyst is another part of the project. The light absorption, CO2 absorption, activation and eventually desorption of converted products are essential to maximise the solar fuel production.

Her main research areas are CO2 photoreduction, photocatlaysis, wet chemistry, synthesis, material characterisation
