Description
Adding olivine to coastal environments is a proposed negative emissions technology. However, there is uncertainty around how quickly the olivine will dissolve in dynamic coastal environments. This project aims to quantify olivine dissolution kinetics influenced by wave dynamics. Working with colleagues at the University of Hull, and the University of Southampton we will undertake a 1-year experimental campaign in a wave simulator on an artificial beach modified with olivine. Results will help us to assess the technical feasibility of coastal enhanced weathering.
