Danielle Rowley, Shadow Minister for Climate Justice and Green Jobs, was given a tour of Heriot-Watt University’s Research Centre for Carbon Solutions to see first-hand how it’s working on the cutting edge of carbon reduction.
The Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS) is an interdisciplinary world leading engineering centre, inspiring and delivering innovative technologies to meet net-zero targets.
Its mission is to develop a holistic view to the development of low carbon technologies and how they will make a significant contribution to combating climate change and protecting the planet.
Prof Mercedes Maroto-Valer, Director of Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS), said: ‘We were delighted to meet with Danielle Rowley and have the opportunity to share how we are bringing forward technologies for the UK to achieve net-zero emissions. Our partnership approach with business, public and third sectors seizes the economic opportunities to realise energy transitions in sectors difficult to decarbonise, like aviation, industry and heating/cooling.”

To take advantage of the huge research, development and employment opportunities, action must be taken in Scotland and across the UK.”
