The annual research event ‘What´s new in Fluid Separation?’ was held last 5th of June in the Advancing Chemical Engineering Worldwide building, located in London. This event was organized by The Fluid Separations Special Interest Group of the IChemE and it aimed to promote interactions within the UK separation community. This event offered PhD students, academic and industrial research a chance to update and discover the new research works currently underway. Fifteen oral communications were presented during the event.

Mr. Fernando Vega is a PhD student from the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering of the University of Sevilla. He is currently working on CO2 capture technologies in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation in Carbon Capture and Storage (CICCS) at Heriot-Watt University. In particular, the collaboration is focused on amine degradation studies under partial oxy-combustion conditions. He attended the event as a speaker, presenting the oral communication titled: ‘Process simulation of a CO2 capture system under partial oxy-combustion conditions using aqueous amine solutions’. The communication was awarded with the third prize, being considered one of the best contributions.

Congratulations, Fernando!
