Biography:

Fergus Mcilwaine completed a Master of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, awarded in 2019. His interest in research was discovered during university where he worked as a member of Dimitrios Gerogiorgis’ group within the Institute of Materials & Processes at the University of Edinburgh. His undergraduate research position at this institute focussed on the modelling and simulation of a novel biosensor. After this, Fergus worked within the research and development department at the global food processing company Kraft Heinz, focussing on recipe redevelopment, screening techniques, and general sauce engineering.
Fergus has also led multiple environmental fundraising campaigns for a range of causes, such as a wind energy project in Peru, solar panel educational resources, and environmental engineering societies.
Fergus’ PhD focusses on the data-driven design of adsorption-based carbon capture processes.

 

Research Interests:


Fergus main research interests are carbon capture technology, metal-organic frameworks and big data analytics.
