Dr. Omid Shahrokhi holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering and an MSc in Reservoir Engineering both awarded by the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran.  In 2011, he joined the EOR Research Group at Sharif University of Technology as a Research Assistant, where he was mainly involved with Enhanced Oil Recovery with CO2 and Reservoir Characterisation studies.

In September 2012, he commenced his PhD studies at the Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, where he was a member of the Centre for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and CO2 Solutions.  The focus of his PhD was two- and three-phase flow characterisation in porous media (with focus on hydrophobic carbonates).  His postgraduate research included two- and three-phase unsteady and steady state relative permeability measurements, high-pressure and high-temperature multiphase flow-through experiments for immiscible and miscible EOR processes.  These processes specifically involved cyclic injection (e.g. WAG injection), as well as multi-scale wettability measurements, which are relevant to the flow characterisation of CO2 storage in mature oil reservoirs and brine aquifers.

He successfully completed his PhD in June 2018, and then joined the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS) at Heriot-Watt University.  He is currently a Research Associate on the MILEPOST project, where his research will focus on the understanding of multiphase flow mechanisms at multi-scale (pore to core) for reactive flow.

Research Interests:

His main research areas are Mechanisms of Multiphase Flow in Porous Media, EOR Processes, Geological Carbon Storage, and Reservoir Characterization.
