Aimaro Sanna visiting the University of Utah for the CO2TRIP project

Dr Aimaro Sanna has successfully completed a one month research placement at Prof Kevin Whitty’s laboratories, at the Chemical Engineering Department, University of Utah, USA. This research visit was part of a multi-exchange program for the CO2TRIP project “Long-term research activities in the area of advanced CO2 Capture Technologies for Clean Coal Energy Generation”, funded by the FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IRSES programme.  The CO2TRIP project is coordinated by the Czestochowa University of Technology, Poland with participation universities from Germany, United Kingdom, China, Japan, USA, and Australia. The project aim is to (1) refine and develop current technologies on the reduction of CO2 emission from the energy sector and (2) transfer knowledge and experience in the area of innovation CO2 capture technology.Prof. Whitty’s laboratories span a range from fundamental fuel characterization with only a few milligrams of sample to pilot-scale systems for processing more than 1 ton per day of fuel.

Aimaro said: “It was a privilege to work with Prof Whitty researchers at his well-equipped labs in a dynamic and friendly environment”. “Through the CO2TRIP visit we have generated the basis for a long-term cooperation on CO2 capture technologies”.
