A delegation from Zhejiang University visited CICCS at Heriot-Watt University

A delegation from Zhejiang University (China) visited The Centre for Innovation in Carbon Capture and Storage (CICCS) at Heriot-Watt University on 23rd June 2015 as part of the European funded project CO2TRIP.  Prof Mercedes Maroto-Valer, Head of CICCS and Energy Academy, welcomed the delegates and gave a presentation about CICCS & Energy Academy research programmes, followed by a tour of the CICCS research facilities. Prof Qinhui Wang and Prof Mengxiang Fang from Zhejiang University gave seminars on recent progress on CO2 chemical absorption and other CO2 capture technologies, highlighting the extensive research on CO2 capture conducted at Zhejiang University which covers blend amine solvents development, membrane vacuum regeneration, and other CCS technologies, including chemical looping gasification and CO2 utilization. Future opportunities for research exchange and collaboration between both groups were agreed and a follow-up visit from Heriot-Watt to Zhejiang University will take place later on this year.
