Visiting : Dr Covadonga Pevida Garcia

We are pleased to announce that Dr Covadonga Pevida Garcia is visiting RCCS for four months starting from early July. Here is a short introduction to Dr. Garcia:

MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oviedo in 1999. Just after graduated she joined INCAR-CSIC to start her PhD studies working on the reduction of nitrogen oxides during coal combustion. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oviedo in 2004. In 2005, she was awarded the Young PhD Researcher Award from the Spanish Carbon Group. She did two postdoctoral stays: at IRCELyon (CNRS-Université de Lyon 1) and at the University of Nottingham. From 2008, she holds a Tenured Scientist position at INCAR-CSIC. Her current research interests focus on the abatement of CO2 emissions and on coal and biomass co-utilization. She has co-authored more than 100 publications and has led a significant number of research projects. She has supervised 6 PhDs to completion in the topic of CO2 capture. From March 2013, she is the Head of the Dep. of Coal, Energy and Environment at INCAR-CSIC.

Dr Pevida has built a solid background over the last ten years on the development of solid sorbents, particularly carbon-based, for CO2 separation from gaseous streams. She will be a visiting researcher at RCCS for four months (July-October 2017) working in the synthesis and evaluation of novel hydrotalcites for efficient CO2 capture. This collaboration runs within the EPSRC project at RCCS entitled Novel adsorbents applied to integrated energy-efficient industrial CO2 capture.
