Dr Shaun Fitzgerald FREng OBE (Centre for Climate Repair) recently travelled to Heriot-Watt to give a presentation titled “Going beyond emissions reduction – Climate Repair”.
Shaun’s presentation focused on the current state of the climate and future trajectories by the IPCC which indicate the need for carbon dioxide removal technologies and opportunities such as solar radiation modification (SRM) to maintain an overall temperature rise below 1.5degC by the end of the current century.
His discussion highlighted the potential of various approaches such as biological marine carbon dioxide removal, ice refreezing and methane reduction.
