Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer has been nominated by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to represent the UK on the Technical Advisory Group of Mission Innovation (MI-TAG).
Mission Innovation (MI) is a global initiative aimed at accelerating action and investment in clean energy research, development, and demonstration to make it affordable, attractive, and accessible for all. The TAG plays a crucial role by providing an independent review of MI, helping governments and Missions to maximize their impact.
Professor Maroto-Valer is the Champion and Director of the UK Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC), Deputy Principal (Global Sustainability), and Director of the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS) at Heriot-Watt University. Her internationally acclaimed work focuses on speeding up the transition to net zero, encompassing energy systems, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), hydrogen technologies, and low-carbon fuels.
The TAG is comprised of 19 leading scientists, senior technical government officials, and senior energy innovation professionals from around the world, nominated by MI member countries and partner organizations.
