PhD Student

School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Institute of Mechanical, Process & Energy Engineering, Heriot-Watt University, Riccarton, UK

Biography

Akis Antonoudis is a process engineer with a background in Environmental
Engineering. He received his Master’s degree in Chemical and Biochemical
Engineering in 2020 from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and he
has since been working as a research associate at the Centre for Research
and Technology Hellas (CERTH).
During his undergraduate studies, Akis gained knowledge in the fields of
renewable energy and wastewater treatment with his final-year research
project being focused on the production of biogas while afterwards, during
his master’s degree, he further developed his skills in process modelling by
working on design projects in which he coupled process simulation software
with mathematical optimisation techniques.
He is currently involved in several EU-funded projects and he is a core
member of CERTH’s modelling team, working on the design and technoeconomic evaluation of low-TRL CCUS systems.
