Peng Chen
Visiting PhD student, Research Associate
Materials Physics and Chemistry, 2025, Beihang University, China
Biography
Peng is a visiting PhD student at the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions at Heriot-Watt University. His current research is mainly focused on how artificial intelligence and data science can help understanding amine emissions from carbon capture plants, and assess the environmental impact with amine emissions.
Peng Chen received her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the Jishou University in 2018 and his MSc degree in Environmental Engineering from the Guangdong University of Technology in 2021. In this period, his interest is in the contaminants of emerging concern (CECs).
He started his PhD journey at the School of Space and Environment, School of Energy and Power Engineering of Beihang University in Sep 2021. During his PhD journey, He has been awarded several scholarships, including the prestigious National Scholarship of China. Peng’s PhD project was focused on (i) The volatility, emission, light absorption of solid fuel burning; (ii) Monitoring and Quality Control for Amine Emissions in Carbon Capture. Peng also received a 9-month overseas visiting fellowship, which is fully funded by Beihang University.
Currently, Peng is a visiting PhD student at the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS) at Heriot-Watt University. His research focuses on how artificial intelligence and data science can help understand amine emissions from carbon capture plants and assess the environmental impact of these emissions.
