We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals (2 positions) who can contribute to the continued growth of our research profile in low carbon processes and specifically our world-leading Research Centre for Carbon Solutions (RCCS).  We have grown this area to encompass over 40 students and staff, 10 laboratories, well above 400 publications on carbon mitigation and attracted more than £17m of funding, including 14 active research projects in a wide range of technologies needed to meet necessary carbon targets.

Candidates are expected to have a demonstrable record of relevant research coupled with an ability to contribute to the quality and innovation of our teaching in our core areas of mechanical engineering or chemical engineering. 

Candidates will be expected to have a strong track record of research in one or more of the following areas:

  • Separation processes for carbon dioxide capture and utilisation (CCU) technologies
  • Energy systems and process integration
  • Systems analysis and modelling of low-carbon processes
  • Energy storage and materials for energy

Candidates should have a first degree in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering (or a closely related discipline), a PhD in one of the areas of interest to us and a record of publications in internationally recognised journals. Commensurate with level of appointment, candidates are also expected to have secured external research funding.
